This is… hilarious.
I’m a girl who doesn’t use a mouse if she can help it. I prefer using keyboard shortcuts - it saves me a lot of time (and some wrist pain).
Sometimes, though, I inadvertently command the computer to do something that makes a drastic change. Case in point: while working in Notepad (I was stripping formatting or coding some html/css), I accidentally set my computer to display ALL text right-to-left, instead of the American/European default of left-to-right. I gotta tell you, it’s bizarre trying to type like that. And frustrating when you don’t know what key command caused the behavior. Or how to reverse it.
Fortunately for you folks, I’ve done it several times more. I use CTRL and SHIFT + arrow keys quite a bit when I type (for selecting text). Here’s what I learned: Holding down CTRL + the right SHIFT key will toggle right-to-left typing/reading. If you accidentally set your text to read RTL, just hold down CTRL + the left SHIFT key to reset.
I discovered another way (one of many) to toggle between RTL and LTR -

The top of the pond - frozen over, partially thawed, and frozen again. Dog prints and frozen twigs - it’s interesting how those can coexist. =)

I just bought a polarizing filter for my camera. Still playing with it, but I like how it takes the white winter sky and shows some of the blue. I miss the blue so much! One of the worst things about winter is the monochromatic, blah look to everything. Even the sky, which is usually so remarkable out here where it’s so flat.

I LOVE finding lines.

snow, originally uploaded by tara.aukerman.
It’s been snowing a little bit every day for the past week or so. It’s melting pretty quickly the next morning, but it’s always a surprise (you’d think I’d get used to it by now!) to wake up to a fresh blanket.
I did, however, see the snow fall today. See the streaks in the picture?
I’ve become something of a tea snob. I really hate tea from bags with powder (vs loose leaf). It makes me gag. There’s a funky aftertaste, and a strong flavor of… máte! Maybe that’s why I don’t like it. The flavor of steamed dirt somehow doesn’t appeal to me.
L, I know I’ve been conspicuously absent. I’ll get on that tonight. After I finish gagging over my disgusting green tea.

Leah, this one’s for you - you’ve talked about how much you like winter trees.
Hey - click the photo and view this one large - click the All Sizes button, then make sure you’re looking at Large (1024 x 683) - and look at the depth of field. It’s pretty neat - worth the few extra clicks.

Jake’s the self-appointed guardian of our backyard. He’s taken to standing just like this - completely motionless - for minutes at a time… just in case some bird or squirrel trespasses.

Jake’s muddy pawprints. The snow is melting and the ground is completely saturated. Lots of mud. And, since it’s snowed and rained so much, who knows what else is mixed in with the mud? We haven’t been able to scoop up all of his mess… So, I try to get him to run around on the deck a bit before coming into the house. Who really wants that mess on their kitchen floor? Not me!
