It’s the two-year anniversary of the Lebowski Podcast! Read this press release, then watch The Big Lebowski and subscribe to the podcast. You won’t regret it. =)
Friends Chalupa and Liz have achieved something spectacular here, folks. They’ve taken their love of film and talking about film and done something truly amazing. They’ve gone from chatting with schoolmates in a small living room to recording an “internationally-known” internet broadcast reaching thousands.
This podcast is intelligent and entertaining. While it’s, at it’s very simplest, a group of people talking about a movie, it’s also an interesting, well-planned, and thought-provoking series of discussions and interviews covering many topics: feminism, religion, philosophy, film, current events… The list goes on.
So, here’s a shout-out to Ben and Liz – well done, kids. Keep it coming!
Signed,
A Fan Since the First Episode

.. back to life, back to reality… isn’t that from a song from the early 90’s? Well, whenever it’s from, it’s stuck in my head.
We’re back from another action-packed weekend. Another weekend, another reunion, another bout of illness from these Aukerfolk. Dave’s ill and I’ve been experiencing stomach distress. Enough distress that while I DID participate in and lose the Schrader classic [mini-golf game] as is my tradition, I did NOT ride the carousel or join the cousins at the batting cages this year. Instead, I took pictures and then crashed on a picnic table bench.
Fun reunion photos are here.
Also, it’s VBS week at Woodruff Place Baptist. I may post a few funny pics, but I probably won’t blog too much this week. Maybe.

So, I use iTunes almost exclusively as my media player. I also have an HP laptop (a dv6000) that has QuickPlay buttons. These buttons work to control media players from my keyboard (instead of having to find the application window and use the play controls from there).
The catch: these buttons only work with software that comes installed on a new HP. Not with iTunes (unless iTunes is the active – on-top – window). Such a pain!!
So, after a day of searching, I found what I was looking for – an iTunes plugin that allows you to use your Quick Launch/QuickPlay buttons as play controls!
Most of you don’t care, but for the few folks as ANNOYED as I have been, I present to you the easiest solution:

Sarah was my friend in high school – she was a year ahead of my in school, and did things like field band and color guard with me. I was there for her 16th birthday party, just before things got really bad for her. I haven’t kept in touch, but I’m glad to see how well she’s doing. Read this article!

This is an AWESOME little tool. I spend quite a bit of time adjusting window sizes for screenshots at work – and this is going to be a BIG time saver.
I work with proprietary software that doesn’t resize using external apps. This tool, however, gives you dimensions as you resize – so you can just drag the corner to the right size! So simple, but SO useful.

Remember the coworker who thought my “binary” clock was a braille clock on first glance? He wrote an article about it. =)

Here’s a little new-year vocabulary for you:
- To “bogart” is to hog or take more than your share. (Read this.)
- The plural of “metropolis” is “metropolises” or “metropoleis.”
